“Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it completely.” (Proverbs 28:5 ESV)
I read this today and I had one of those “light bulb” moments. You know these moments; when you read something you’ve read many times before but suddenly you get it. (As an aside, when that happens, it is the Holy Spirit opening your eyes to truth that you need to respond to without delay.) The significance of this statement dawned on me, that those without Christ (evil ones - defined Biblically as any who are not holy, guilty of sin against the only one who is good - God, and not made holy by faith in Christ) can not understand justice. Without an understanding of justice one can’t understand how they are broken before God and can’t understand their need for a savior. They are hopeless without God intervening in their life. We know that no one seeks after God on their own (Rom 3), it takes the Holy Spirit to change our desires, our heart. This is why prayer is the critical first step when sharing our faith with the lost. It is all the work of God moving in their hearts and minds to bring them into a saving faith. We pray and we love and we tell. Who will you pray for, love on, and tell about the hope found only in Jesus Christ this week?
