Family, Friends, and Unity

Well I've fallen a bit behind in updating this but I'm back!  Things that have occurred since the last time was first, the hayride.  What a great time!  Eighty or so people came out for games, food, and a ride around the Cook's sprawling farm.  Thank you Jim and Zeena for hosting.

Then there was the Jr High retreat.  That was a blast.  The theme was "American Idol" which centered around the idols we all struggle with and how they won't last.  Great subject matter!  There were a ton of games, good food, and time to hang out and get to know one another.  We have a great group of leaders running The Edge.

We still digging into Ephesians in the High School group.  This week we were looking at Eph 4:1-6 and how Paul was urging them to walk in a manner of the calling with which they've been called and how that is really about being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the body of peace.  There are a lot of reasons why a group that seems to be close will fall apart and very often it never recovers.  Paul is pleading with them not to let that happen in their church, to be humble,  patient with and love one another, and to WORK at preserving the unity among them.

Moving into the holidays we are often brought together with family, a tremendous blessing for many and a real struggle for others.  If there is ever a time when Eph 4:1-6 can be applied it's now.  When that distant cousin multiply removed starts getting a bit obnoxious maybe we can, as Paul says, bear with them in love, just as Christ has so often done with us.
